About Membership
List of Members | Setting up a central open access fund
BioMed Central, Chemistry Central and SpringerOpen are committed to providing immediate and free access to all the research they publish. To meet the cost of publishing, authors who publish in our open access journals are asked to pay an article-processing charge (APC) per published paper. To remove this burden from the individual authors, institutions can join our Membership Program.
Benefits of Membership:
- Time saving and convenient – removes the administrative burden from institutions.
- Cost-effective - pricing plans to fit individual requirements and budgets.
- Discounts on Chemistry Central products - concessions on all Chemistry Central subscription products.
- Increased exposure for an organization - Members receive their own customized webpage.
Chemistry Central offers four different types of Membership. View each Member option below to learn more.
-
Prepay Membership
Enables an institution to cover the whole cost of publishing with no additional fees paid by their authors. Discounts apply. -
Shared Support Membership
The cost of publishing is split between the institution and author. Discounts apply. -
Supporter Membership
Members pay a flat rate annual Membership fee based on the number of science and medical researchers and graduate students at their institution. A 15% discount on the article-processing charge (APC) is given when publishing in the journals. -
Postpay Membership
Scientific and medical societies and groups are invoiced in arrears for papers authored by their Members that have been published in our journals since the last invoice date.
Launched in June 2010, SpringerOpen is Springer’s new range of peer-reviewed open access journals.
The new series of e-journals covers all disciplines within the science, technology and medicine (STM) fields, giving authors in all areas of science the opportunity to publish open access.
All content is fully and immediately open access on publication using BioMed Central's expertise and open access publishing platform. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution Licence and comply with open access mandates from funding sources and academic institutions in the fastest and easiest way.
Chemistry Central Membership now additionally includes all publications within SpringerOpen journals.
