Reasons to publish
Open access ensures high visibility
Our open access policy ensures high visibility and maximum exposure for your work - anyone with online access can read your article.
All articles published in Chemistry Central's journals are freely available online to the entire global research community. They are available via Chemistry Central's website, the National Institutes of Health's repository of full text articles, PubMed Central, as well as in many other major international archives.
Research funders are mandating open access
Increasing numbers of chemistry research funding bodies are recognizing the benefits of open access and mandating open access publication of the research findings which stem from their funding; for instance, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) in the UK and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the USA.
Rapid publication of your articles
Online submission, and electronic peer review and production make the process of publishing your article simple and efficient. Our aim is to reach a first decision for your manuscript within 6 weeks, with immediate publication upon acceptance.
Unlimited space for your data
Authors are strongly encouraged to submit all supporting data with their manuscript. Publishing online means plenty of space for figures and schemes, which can be uploaded in numerous file formats through the journal's publication platform. Functionality also includes support for mini-websites to display interactive spectra, molecular structures and videos.
Chemistry Central, and our sister company BioMed Central, work with open data innovators - many of whom are on our journal Editorial Boards - to further enhance presentation and accessibility of our data.
Quality, reputation and high standard of peer review
All Chemistry Central journals have high standards of quality and peer review with prestigious international Editorial Boards who help with policy and decision-making, choosing referees and reviewing manuscripts.
Indexed in major bibliographic databases
All articles published in Chemistry Central journals are indexed in popular bibliographic databases so that your work can be found easily and cited by researchers around the world. For instance, Chemistry Central Journal is indexed by Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), Web of Science, PubMed and Scopus.
Our journals also include access reports allowing authors to easily assess the readership of their articles, e.g. Chemistry Central Journal has a list of the most accessed articles for the last 30 days, past year and all time.
Authors retain copyright to their work
Articles can be freely redistributed and reused as long as they are correctly attributed. For example, published articles can be posted on personal or institutional webpages, emailed to friends and colleagues, printed and forwarded, archived, included in academic course materials, quoted in the press, translated and further distributed as often and widely as possible. For full information please refer to the Creative Commons attribution license.
Impact Factors and Thomson Reuters (ISI) citation tracking
Some of our new journals already have Impact Factors, and for our most recently launched journals we strive to get the journal citation tracked as soon as possible.
Publishing a wide range of article types
As well as Research articles, Methodologies and Commentaries, several of our journals also publish a wider range of articles such as Perspectives papers (for new hypotheses, and alternative interpretations of existing work), and open source Software and open access Database papers.
Promotion of your articles
Articles are widely promoted through email updates, table of contents email alerts, postings on the Chemistry Central homepage, and press releases to the general and scientific press - all resulting in increasing levels of accesses for each article. Chemistry Central journals are also promoted at many major scientific conferences to bring your work to the attention of professionals in your field. You can also promote your article via your own email lists, online links, list servers, distribution at conferences and any other innovative techniques you wish to adopt.
Chemistry Central aims to provide the highest possible standard of service to authors. See some comments from authors who have published their articles in Chemistry Central's journals.
