NIH Public Access Policy becomes mandatory from April 7th
An overview of the added benefits of publishing with BioMed Central and Chemistry Central in light of the NIH's public access policy, which has now gone into effect.

Chemistry Central recently exhibited at the 235th American Chemical Society National Meeting, in New Orleans (6-10 April), and discussed the benefits of unrestricted access to research and data with educators. There was a noticeable increase in awareness of, and support for Open Access initiatives in chemistry.

In March, Chemistry Central also attended the 2008 Frühjahrssymposium (young scientists conference on chemistry) in Rostock, Germany. This meeting proved to be a good opportunity to talk to the 'next generation' of chemists about the future of publishing in the digital age.

Since our last update, Chemistry Central Journal also published its first conference proceedings supplement. If you are involved with a conference, and would like to discuss this service, please contact editorial@chemistrycentral.com.

Appointment of new Section Editor
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Yang Gan (Harbin Institute of Technology, China) as Section Editor for geochemistry, nuclear and radiochemistry and surface/interfacial chemistry.
